Project: The Darkest Dawn
Client: Wildseed Studios in collaboration with Pinewood Studios
Role and responsibilities: Jessie Roe acted as the marketing manager for the release of this British Sci-fi movie. The film was one of the first feature films to be created starring YouTubers, an experiment in whether a YouTube audience could be migrated off platform and into the cinema. Pinewood studios collaborated with Wildseed Studios in producing the film and distributing it to the likes of Netflix, iTunes, Google Play, Amazon etc.
The project required the creation of a bespoke website and social media channels and an ambitious launch event at Comic Con in London which was well attended by both press and fans. The launch event screening included a live flash-mob of zombies and army men who descended on the audience, a reflection of the apocalypse zombie theme of the movie itself.
Skills: Marketing manager, events, website development, social media management, project manager, SEO, e-commerce promotion.
About the film:
The Darkest Dawn is a big, brash, British Sci-Fi movie that tells the story of two teenage sisters as Britain descends into an alien apocalypse. Told through the eyes of the younger sister, the film charts the sisters’ descent into a post-apocalyptic hell where they must choose between humanity and brutality in the fight for survival. Having lost their family in the initial chaos, the sisters unite with another group of survivors and embark on an odyssey out of a totally devastated London and into the badlands of Britain under alien occupation. The film is the second feature from director Drew Casson, the sequel to his first film Hungerford (also available online), and premiered at Comic Con in London.
